2007 nissan pathfinder review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Big in room, style, and capability. introductionthe 2007 nissan pathfinder is a big and brawny sport utility, an authentic off-highway vehicle, and an excellent alternative to the toyota 4runner.  pathfinder is also a roomy family vehicle, with all the popular comfort and convenience features. Only a few years ago pathfinders were compact and understated. Since 2005, however, the pathfinder has been built on a shortened version of the same superb ladder frame and mechanical package that underpins the full-size nissan titan pickup. And to go with its new-found bulk, pathfinder styling has acquired a great deal of attitude.  in short, the current pathfinder can go practically anywhere, and get there in style and comfort.  the 4wd off-road 4wd model is equipped with hill descent control, which limits downhill speed without driver intervention, and hill start assist, which briefly holds the pathfinder on a slope while the driver releases the brake pedal and applies the accelerator.  the 4. 0-liter v6 that powers the pathfinder is a larger, retuned version of the engine that powers the 350z sports car. Pathfinder's five-speed automatic transmission is specifically geared to capitalize on the engine's torque characteristics. For 2007, recalibrating has improved this engine's california emissions certification, from lev2 lev to lev2 ulev, making pathfinder an ultra low emissions vehicle. Maximum towing capacity, with proper equipment, is still 6000 pounds.  also new for 2007: express up-down operation for the passenger-side window (with safety reverse), an auxiliary audio jack for mp3 player compatibility on specific models and packages, and a new exterior color called desert stone. All are powered by a 266-hp 4. 0-liter v6 with a five-speed automatic.  the pathfinder s 25,600) and s 4wd 27,600) come with fabric upholstery; air conditioning; cruise control; power mirrors, windows and door locks with keyless remote; am/fm/cd stereo playing through six speakers; adjustable lumbar on the driver's seat; reclining backs on the middle-row seats; roof rails; and a pre-wired tow setup including hitch. S models also come standard with vehicle dynamic control, a tire-pressure monitor, and 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. Few options are offered, but among them is an airbag package 700) that adds side impact air bags, plus roof-mounted side-curtain airbags with rollover sensor.  se 2wd 26,850) and se 4wd 28,850) add an eight-way power driver's seat, fold-flat front passenger sear, unique seat fabric, easy clean cargo area, rear reading lamps, cargo net, running boards, roof rack crossbars, fog lamps, front tow hook, first aid kit, body-color outside mirrors, and a middle seat fold-down center armrest.  leather seating is optional 1,500) for the se. The se comfort package 1,550) includes dual-zone automatic air conditioning; auxiliary rear air conditioning with separate controls; six-disc cd changer with mp3 capability and auxiliary input jack; adjustable pedals; a multi-accessorized, auto-dimming rearview mirror; upgraded sunvisors; leather highlights (but not leather seating); and painted silver interior accents. The se premium package 1,700) adds a two-way power sunroof; automatic headlamps; programmable remote garage door opener; bose stereo with nine speakers including subwoofer; redundant steering-wheel-mounted audio controls; and capabilities for mp3 and satellite radio.  the se off-road 31,650) is available only with 4wd. The off-road model comes with b. Goodrich rugged trail p265/75r16 tires on distinctive wheels; rancho off-road shocks; and skid plates. Hill descent control and hill start assist are exclusive to the se off-road, making it the most trail-capable pathfinder. Off-road also comes with standard comfort features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air conditioning with controller, adjustable pedals, digital compass, outside temperature gauge, leather steering wheel and shift knob, and upgraded audio. Se off-road is upholstered in a robust, waffle-texture fabric; desert leather is optional 1,500).  the le 33,800) and le 4wd 36,000) come with all the comfort features of the se off-road, but not its specific off-road equipment; plus leather upholstery, wood-toned trim, sunroof, bose audio system with six-disc changer and nine speakers (including subwoofer), and 17-inch wheels and tires. The le-exclusive dvd navigation package 2,000) includes a seven-inch color lcd display.  the mobile entertainment system 1,600) delivers a dvd player with a seven-inch color monitor and two infrared headphones. It is available on all pathfinders except the basic s.  safety features that come on all pathfinders include two-stage frontal airbags; antilock brakes (abs) with electronic brake-force distribution (edb); and electronic stability control, which nissan calls vehicle dynamic control. The optional air bag package adds front-seat side-impact airbags and full-coverage side-curtain airbags. The pathfinder is intended to be a no-compromise, fully off-road-capable suv, and its dimensions and styling make this imminently clear.  the pathfinder features rugged body-on-frame construction using a ladder-type frame adapted from nissan's full-size armada suv and titan pickup. This is the type of construction best suited for heavy-duty towing, serious load-hauling, and ambitious bashing about in the backwoods.    pathfinder's styling shares visual cues with the armada and titan, as well as the frontier pickup. Up front, angular chrome grille bars vertically bracket the familiar nissan logo. Crisply outlined headlight lenses fold around the edges of the fenders. A strong, chin-like bumper houses a wide, low air intake, with small, round sockets for the optional fog lights just inboard of the fender blister creases.  from the side, the fender blisters encircle substantial tires and lend presence to the mostly smooth body panels. Sloping c-pillars with high-mounted rear door handles are angled less severely than on the armada, but still make pathfinder's kinship clear. The roof line, mimicking the armada's, bows slightly over the forward passenger compartment then flattens aft of the c-pillar. A vertical divide carried over from the previous generation splits the rear side door windows allowing the forward two-thirds of the glass to lower fully into the door, a nice feature. Short overhangs front and rear spotlight the new pathfinder's off-road promise. Openings in the ends of the roof rails at first seem mere styling exercises, but actually offer convenient hand-holds when loading and offloading sport gear.  the rear bumper copies the armada's, with a low lift-over between upturns at each end tying into the large taillights. The backlight's (rear windscreen's) bottom edge tracks the bumper's geometry as part of an elongated pentagonal outline, picking up on the geometric theme of the xterra. interiorinside, the nissan pathfinder is patterned after the full-size armada and titan, although appropriately downsized.  the three-spoke steering wheel with metallic trim is familiar to nissan owners. A column stalk to the left manages the exterior lights, and one to the right runs the windshield wipers and washers. Outside mirror and pedals are adjusted with buttons located on the lower dash, to the left of the steering column. The ignition key slot is on the dash, which is preferable to being on the steering column.  the stereo sits uppermost in the center stack, above the climate controls. Both are fitted with delightfully basic, intuitively shaped knobs and buttons and easily deciphered displays. In models with nissan's all-mode 4wd system and electronically controlled transfer case, a large rotary selector is positioned in a panel at the base below a smallish storage bin. Atop the dash above the stereo a shallow tray occupies the space reserved for the optional navigation system's pop-up display. A bi-level glove box fills the lower part of the dash to the right of the center stack.  dash panels are uniformly textured, flowing smoothly out from the base of the windshield around and down on each side of the center stack to the knee bolsters filling the space between the stack and doors. The center console is finished with a bright metallic look. Two cup holders are sandwiched between the shift gate and the storage bin. The bin is deep and wide, with receptacles for coins, a power outlet and slots for cds. The underside of the console lid holds clips for a couple pens or pencils. Cupholders for second-row occupants fold out of the back side of the center console. These features add convenience and make life just a little easier.  the considerable length of the pathfinder makes room for a thir.

2008 nissan altima hybrid review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Hybrid joins line of sporty sedans. introductionthe nissan altima is a driver's car among midsize sedans. Indeed, the 2008 altima comes loaded with safety features.  a gas-electric hybrid version is available boasting an epa-rated 35 miles per gallon city, extending its range past 600 miles between fill-ups. It feels powerful and luxurious. The 3. 5-liter v6 makes 270 hp and 258 pound-feet of torque and rates. The price for that power, however, is an epa-rated 19/26 mpg appetite for premium fuel. Hybrid technology isn't cheap, however, and the altima uses the best: from toyota.  for drivers who appreciate sharp handling, the altima excels. This is a car that inspires driver confidence, a car that a driver can really connect with. It's steady and predictable in extreme situations, including rough pavement. Its suspension is quite firm but isn't harsh.  a sporty new altima coupe has joined the lineup. Standard equipment includes cloth upholstery, 60/40 split fold-down rear seats, power windows and door locks, cruise control, tilt/telescope steering wheel, metallic-look interior trim, pre-wiring for an audio system, an intelligent key with push-button starting, and 16-inch steel wheels. Abs and ebd are standard. Air conditioning does not come standard. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, an automatic is not available.  altima 2. 5 s 20,080) and 2. 5 s automatic 20,580) add air conditioning, six-speaker am/fm/cd, trip computer, and a greatly expanded option list. The 2. 5 s convenience package 1,050) adds an eight-way power driver's seat, audio controls in a leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic headlamps, and other appointments from the higher-line models; convenience plus 2,150) includes a power glass sunroof, alloy wheels, and the convenience package. The 2. 5 sl package 3,850) includes leather upholstery and most of the 3. 5 sl features except the v6 engine. Bluetooth and the premium stereo can be added with the connection package 1000).  altima 3. 5 se comes with a six-speed manual 24,080) or automatic transmission 24,580) and a 3. 5-liter v6 rated 270 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The se also adds 17-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable driver's seat, steering-wheel mounted controls for audio and trip computer, a combination of wood and metallic interior trim, automatic headlamps, heated side view mirrors and other features, including power windows that can be raised or lowered with the key. Vehicle dynamic control 900) is optional and is packaged with a full-size spare tire. The sport package 1300) adds sunroof, fog lights, and a rear spoiler; the premium package 4200) adds the sport package and the connection package with hid xenon headlamps, heated leather seats, and other interior features.  altima 3. 5 sl 28,280) comes with a cvt automatic and most of the se features, though it comes with 16-inch alloy wheels. The sl adds leather upholstery; dual-zone automatic climate control; heated front seats (with power lumbar support for the driver); power glass sunroof; fog lights; bluetooth hands-free phone system; homelink universal transceiver; and a nine-speaker bose 6cd/mp3/wma sound system with rds, speed-sensitive volume control, and xm satellite radio.  a navigation system, a rearview camera, and xm satellite radio are available in various packages. A rear spoiler 370), fog lights 310), and splash guards 135) are available as standalone options.  altima hybrid 25,070) comes with cloth upholstery and uses a mix of base, midgrade and upgrade trim levels. The electrically powered air conditioning works even when the engine is stopped. It can be loaded with the hybrid connection package 4,400) with leather upholstery and every available altima feature except the navigation system, which is included in the technology package 6,400), making a hybrid technology package the ultimate altima.  safety features that come on all models include abs with electronic brake-force distribution, an advanced air bag system, with frontal and side-impact airbags in front, full side curtain bags, active head restraints in front, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Vdc electronic stability control is available on v6 models. walkaroundthe nissan altima looks quite stylish, especially for a mid-size car. The deck is distinctively short, yet trunk space remains a useful 15. 3 cubic feet. The fender flares are edgy and pronounced, allowing the rest of the body to be narrower and slip through the wind with less frontal area. The gap between the tires and flares was tightened. Altima presents a slippery 0. 31 drag coefficient, thanks to many things, including the steeply sloped windshield.  the headlamps and taillamps are elaborate and appear almost exotic. Nissan calls the headlamp arrangement a multi-parabola, which means its coverage is all over the place. As for the taillamps, nissan says they cost nearly as much as the headlamps, so don't back into anything, and they definitely do look expensive. They're covered with clear plastic like the headlamps, and contain a silver ray-gun looking cylinder with the red lamp, plus a round white beam for the backup light, and a big orange piece for the parking lamp and turn signal. interiorthe nissan altima features a roomy, comfortable cabin. We've been in many luxury cars that didn't feel this classy inside. The available leather feels rich. Soft materials are used for touches like padded armrests, and the overall level of refinement is higher than in pre-2007 models. They feel firm and longer and higher than in the previous models. They also have optional power lumbar support and elevate higher, something that most cars do nowadays, as people need a better view of the road, with all the suvs out there blocking visibility. The gauges are arranged in the practical tripod design, with speedometer in center, tachometer on left, and fuel gauge and water temperature on right. The lettering is sharp, white on black, with red needles.  the center stack is neatly designed, with three hvac (heating-air conditioning) vents at the top, audio controls in the center. Below, big, handy knobs handle hvac functions. Usable storage slots are interspersed. That leaves the system in the accessories mode, and drains the juice. Without the owner's manual we would not have been able to begin to figure out how to make it work. Not even with a passenger totally devoted to the challenge while we were stuck in traffic.

2012 nissan maxima review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Drivers who take driving seriously don't usually like cvts for their lackluster performance and snowmobile-like behavior, but nissan is particularly good at cvts and this one allows the driver to switch into a manual mode with six pre-set ratios.  the maxima shares its platform, its basic structure, with the altima and murano, but its major bits and pieces are stiffer, providing a firmer ride and more precise steering feel. The maxima also features a notably wide track, which helps the car handle the corners on its wide tires.  the 2012 nissan maxima gets a freshened grille and taillights, as well as updated interior trim. A new limited edition package for the 2012 maxima upgrades over the base model with sportier exterior trim and premium features.  the maxima is a great looking, assertive sedan with high style and fine detailing. It doesn't look like anything else in the nissan lineup.  inside, the maxima cabin is driver-focused and does a good job keeping its plethora of buttons in a logical, easy-to-use formation. The maxima's dimensions are snugger than in some of the other cars in its class, most notably in trunk space and in rear headroom, the latter due to the car's low roofline.  fuel economy for the 2012 nissan maxima is an epa-estimated 19/26 mpg city/highway or 22 mpg combined. It also comes with 18-inch alloy wheels and a sunroof.  the maxima limited edition package for s models 710) includes a unique grille and 18-inch dark silver alloy wheels, hid xenon headlights with smoke-tinted lenses, foglights and a rear spoiler. (all prices are manufacturer's suggested retail prices, which do not include $780 destination charge and may change at any time without notice.)  maxima sv 35,120) adds to the base s equipment foglights, leather upholstery, a driver-seat manual thigh-support extender and power lumbar support, and a nine-speaker bose audio system with satellite radio. The monitor package 700) adds a 7-inch touchscreen electronics interface, 2gb of digital music storage, an rca auxiliary audio-video jack, a rearview camera and an ipod/usb audio interface. The cold package 400) adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and heated mirrors. Xenon high-intensity discharge headlights are also available 400). Brand styling themes are evident, but the look is unique in nissan lineup.  every exterior body panel on the car shows adventurous and modern design and shaping. The fenders bulge at the wheelwells front and rear, accented by character lines along those bulges. The hood has similar bulges, and they all lend a sporty appearance. On each side, the door skins are pulled in from the fenders and flattened out so that the whole body has a coke-bottle shape, with a short nose, a short deck, a long, sloping roof and a bmw-style c-pillar curvature. The grille, headlamps, and led taillamps are large and fit well into the whole exterior design. interiorthe maxima's place at the top of the nissan lineup is most evident from the driver's seat. The design, materials, and execution of the interior are top-notch. The interior includes a few items right out of the nissan parts bin. The radio and navigation control panel sit at the top of the center stack, backed up by lower controls with large, very readable labels and markings. The instruments are black with white numbers that are lit even during daytime driving. The hefty three-spoke steering wheel has redundant controls for the audio system, and is available with huge paddle shifters that will never be out of reach for a quick shift. The floor shifter is located to the left of the center console, for those who want to shift via the stick instead of the paddles.  the available music box hard-drive radio holds thousands of songs, and drivers can plug their ipods and mp3 players into the available usb port to listen to songs that way. The driver's seat is multi-adjustable, especially in the sport package version that we drove, and very huggy and comfortable. Headroom and legroom are generous for most drivers, though the very tall will want more of both.  the rear seat doesn't have as much space as we would expect for a car of this size. So is headroom for those of average height. However, taller occupants will want for more headroom due to the car's coupe-like roofline. The seats themselves are fairly supportive, though. Nissan designed the maxima primarily with two people in mind, with the back seat designed for occasional use. The rear seat that comes standard folds 60/40, which adds considerable space. The sport and premium packages have a fixed rear seat with a cargo pass-through in the center for occasional hauling or ski trips. While that may be going a bit far, it certainly is a sports sedan. Front-wheel drive means it isn't as naturally balanced as rear-wheel-drive cars such as the infiniti g or bmw 3 series or cadillac cts. However, the maxima has six engine mounts, and the engine is mounted quite low in the chassis for a lower center of gravity and better handling. The suspension uses aluminum components and a geometry chosen for handling capabilities. We found the front-wheel-drive generates virtually no torque-steer, even under full throttle, an impressive bit of tuning on nissan's part.  we found the nissan maxima sv sport felt agile, glued to the road and ready to play, with no hint of harshness in the ride.  the speed-sensitive power rack-and-pinion steering system is shared with the 370z sports car, and it makes the driver feel connected, truly part of the steering and driving process, and it's never over-boosted.  the brakes have vented rotors both front and rear, for superior fade-resistance and added braking power under severe conditions.  the maxima comes with a strong, responsive 3. 5-liter v6 engine. With 290 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 261 pound-feet of torque at 4400 rpm, the v6 is at the top of the.

2011 nissan rogue review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Fresh styling for agile suv. introductionthe nissan rogue was restyled for 2011, with an upgraded look inside and out. Some of the model names have changed, and new features are available that were not before, including a navigation system, rearview monitor, a usb port, and 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.  the 2011 rogue gets fresh styling with a new front fascia and grille, new front and rear spoilers, new trim accents. Rogue's exterior is designed to present an image of modern sophistication. Its dramatic styling includes dynamically arched forms and powerful rear shoulder lines. The extensive redesign for 2011 adds to its sporty feel, while enhancing its upscale appearance.  interior changes for 2011 include a new instrument panel design and a new center cluster. Leather-appointed seating surfaces are available along with a six-way power driver's seat and a 60/40 split folding rear bench seat. We found the cabin pleasant, with materials that would look good in higher-priced vehicles. In addition to the navigation system and rearview monitor, the rogue is available with nissan intelligent key, bluetooth, xm satellite radio and a powerful bose-developed audio system with seven speakers with woofer, aux input and mp3 playback. The controls are easy to use and understand.  the rogue seats five. There is no third row available for seven-passenger seating. The nissan rogue is a compact suv. Based on a car platform, it's considered a crossover vehicle, like the honda cr-v, hyundai tucson, and chevy equinox. Utility is enhanced by numerous convenient storage and ultra-functionality features, including an oversized glove compartment, a large center console and a washable, removable tray that fits below the cargo area floor to hold wet or dirty gear and tools. The rogue is meant as a daily commuter and weekend runabout, not an off-road adventure vehicle. We think it's one of the better handling small suvs, though we would not call it sporty. The ride allows for a lot of road feel and can become harsh on rough and irregular surfaces. Road imperfections and engine sounds intrude into the cabin.  the rogue was introduced as a 2008 model, and changes since then have been minimal. For 2011, the styling has been updated inside and out, electronics have been advanced, and the packaging of the models has changed. lineupthe 2011 nissan rogue comes in rogue s and rogue sv models, a krom edition and an sl trim level. Rogue s awd 22,080) adds all-wheel drive.  rogue sv 23,240) and rogue sv awd 24,490) feature automatic air conditioning, upgraded cloth upholstery, power driver seat, fold-flat front passenger seat, premium audio with six speakers, ipod/usb input, xm radio, bluetooth, steering wheel audio controls, 4. 3-inch color display, rearview monitor, intelligent key, painted mirrors, yakima-compatible roof rails. It's available with all-wheel drive 25,680).  safety features include dual front airbags, torso-protecting front side airbags, head-protecting side-curtain airbags with rollover sensors, front seat active head restraints, latch-style child seat anchors, tire-pressure monitor, abs with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution (ebd), and electronic stability control with traction control. walkaroundfor 2011, the appearance of the nissan rogue has been freshened with a new front fascia and grille, new front and rear spoilers, new trim accents.  the styling is swoopy, with rounded lines and a wedge shape from front to rear. A black and chrome nissan badge up front is flanked by a body-color or chrome grille. The sides, even those with chrome door handles and rub strips, are clean and smooth, with nothing to hide the clean lines.  side mirrors are black on the rogue s and body color on the rogue sv. The standard wheels on the rogue s are stamped steel with plastic covers that look like five-spoke alloys from a distance. The 17-inch aluminum wheels that come with the rogue sv add a touch of drama, with five y spokes that seem to actively cling to the rim; 18-inch wheels are also available. The krom has a look all its own, still a rogue but more entertaining.  we think the rogue looks best from the rear, where the dark rear glass, tapering taillights, rounded panels and license plate recess give it some definition. The rear liftgate lacks a separate opening glass but the hatch is not heavy and liftover not too high.  among compact suvs, the rogue has a sleeker, car-based crossover look, like the cr-v, as opposed to the more-upright box-on-box look ford escape or jeep liberty.  the rogue is among the longest vehicles in the class, though it doesn't look it. At 183 inches overall, it is even longer than the seven-passenger toyota rav4 and the bulkier-looking jeep liberty. interiorfor 2011, nissan rogue gets a new instrument panel and center stack and updated technology. The interior uses a simple, rounded design trimmed with quality materials. The dash, for instance, is molded in a soft-touch material that seems as if it might be right at home in an infiniti. The door tops also have a nice soft-touch material. The remainder of the materials is price-appropriate plastic that fits together well.  the instrument panel features large, white-on-black tachometer and speedometer, with analog temperature and fuel conditions inset. Between the gauges is a digital display for trip computer data, outside temperature, gear selected, door-open warnings and so on. It has substantially sized buttons, and the presets are grouped in a, b, and c folders, each of which can mix radio bands; use the 18 presets as a group of six for three different drivers, locales, or attitudes. The center console has two integral cupholders and a small tray that will work for holding little odds and ends. If that's not enough, the console bin is very deep and is available with a removable tray to give it two levels of storage. The tilt steering wheel helps, and there is enough head for most adults and class-leading legroom. There is good visibility to the front and the side mirrors are large, but over-the shoulder visibility is compromised by a smallish rear window and rear side windows that are pinched at the rear. The ride height makes getting into and out of the rogue very easy.  the second row is usefully roomy, with head and leg room that can accommodate adults, even with the front seats moved far back. Three adults in the rear will be cramped, but they should be able to deal with short trips. Toe space under the front seats is plentiful.

2011 nissan maxima review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. It's a midsize sedan like the altima, but it costs more, comes with more equipment, and is sportier. It's close to the price of the rear-wheel-drive infiniti g37, but the maxima has front-wheel drive instead of rear-wheel drive so it isn't as sporty as the g37.  the maxima is engineered, built, tuned and aimed at drivers who prefer sporty handling and a firmer ride as opposed to the softer, more luxurious rides associated with many cars in this class.  the 2011 nissan maxima competes with the acura tl, infiniti g, cadillac cts, and toyota avalon, as well as deluxe versions of the toyota camry and honda accord.  the nissan maxima features a notably wide track, which helps the chassis handle the corners on its wide tires. Maxima's underpinnings are shared with other nissan front-wheel-drive models, including the murano and altima. Sized close to the altima, the maxima's platform is measurably stiffer.  maxima sport and premium models benefit from a large steel panel behind the rear seat to connect the floor, walls and package shelf into a single unit that, according to nissan, is up to 17 percent stiffer than the base model, all aimed at sharper handling. Sport versions also add a brace across the front suspension towers for greater stiffness and steering precision. We think that's a vote in favor of the premium and sport packages, though it means giving up the cargo benefits of a folding rear seat. Upgrading to these packages is more than the sum of their feature lists.  changes for the 2011 model year are minor. They involve mostly minor appearance tweaks for cars equipped with the sport package. This package now includes smoked headlights, a dark chrome grille, and shiny gray interior stitching. A monitor package 700) comes with the seven-inch color monitor, rearview camera, usb port, and a two-gigabyte hard drive.  stand-alone options include the cold package 400) with heated front seats, outside mirrors and steering wheel; hid headlights 400); and a rear spoiler 375).  safety features on all models include dual-stage frontal, side-impact and side-curtain airbags; anti-lock brakes with brake assist; vehicle dynamic control (electronic stability control); traction control; tire-pressure monitoring; and active front head restraints. walkaroundthe nissan maxima has an attractive, shapely look that fits with its sporty character. On each side, the door skins are pulled in from the fenders and flattened out so that the whole body has what the designers call a coke-bottle shape, with a short nose, a short deck, a long, sloping roof and a bmw-style c-pillar curvature. The grille, headlamps, and 12-led taillamps are large and fit well into the whole exterior design.  the maxima is a great looking, assertive sedan with high style and fine detailing, and it doesn't look like anything else in the nissan lineup. interiorthe maxima's place at the top of the nissan lineup is most evident from the driver's seat. The design, materials, and execution of the interior are top-notch.  the interior features of the maxima are all about concentration of controls and information around the driver. Front-wheel drive means it isn't as naturally balanced as rear-wheel-drive cars such as the infiniti g or bmw 3 series. The abs brakes have vented rotors both front and rear, for superior fade-resistance and added braking power under severe conditions.  the maxima comes with a strong, responsive 3. 5-liter v6 engine. With 290 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 261 pound-feet of torque a.

2010 nissan xterra review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Authentic suv for the outdoors. introductionthe nissan xterra is a true original, and a successful original at that. The xterra is a sport utility vehicle engineered for serious off-road sport and real utility over suburban shopping duty. It is a truck suv, not a crossover suv. With 4wd and the smooth (optional) five-speed automatic transmission, the xterra achieves 15 city and 20 highway miles per gallon, a bit more with 2wd or the standard six-speed manual transmission.  an off-road model is available that will go pretty much anywhere. It comes with hill descent control, heavy duty trail tires, and skid plates. The electronic 4wd system is part time, with three functions available: 2wd, 4wd high and 4wd low.  last year (2009) nissan freshened the xterra's appearance a bit and, more importantly, made front-seat side-impact and full-length side-curtain airbags standard on all models. For 2010, nissan has made last year's gear package standard on s and se models, and what was the technology package is now standard on se and off road. lineupthe base-level xterra x 2wd 22,450) comes with a six-speed manual transmission, cloth upholstery, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, cruise control, six-speaker sound system with single cd, three 12-volt dc outlets, power windows, 60/40 folding rear seat, cargo-area carpeting, roof rails with an air dam, and 16-inch steel wheels. The xterra x 4wd 24,500) adds an electronically controlled transfer case with three functions: 2wd, 4wd high and 4wd low. A five-speed automatic transmission is available, although nissan lists the x 2wd automatic 23,250) and x 4wd automatic 25,300) as separate models. Manual-shift x 4wd's come with bfgoodrich long trail tires.  the xterra s 2wd 25,420) and 4wd 27,470) come with the automatic transmission only, and add an eight-way adjustable driver's seat, power mirrors, an interior microfilter, fog lamps, aluminum step rails, roof rack crossbars and gear basket, and alloy wheels with bfg long trail tires. Mirrors and door handles are body color instead of black.  the xterra off-road comes only with 4wd, but with a choice of manual 29,200) or automatic 30,400) transmission. Equipment is similar to se, except that the off-road skips the step rails and leather seats. (it features its own unique red-and-gray rugged fabric upholstery.) off road adds roof-mounted driving lights, a front passenger seat that folds flat, an electronic locking rear differential, bilstein gas shocks, and skid plates for the oil pan, fuel tank and transfer case. The automatic transmission version comes with hill descent control and hill start assist as well. Either way, off road rolls on bfg rugged trail tires mounted to 6-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels.  splash guards 135) for the x are the only factory option, but port-installed accessories range from a tow hitch 460) to a dockable dvd player 495) and garmin portable navigation. Vehicle dynamic control and vented disc brakes with abs and ebd also come standard, along with the government-mandated tire pressure monitor. walkaroundone of the six exterior colors offered on the 2010 nissan xterra is called red brick, a fitting name because if there's any suv on the market that looks like a brick, it's the xterra. But that's part of its popularity, if not charm.  this year's remaining color choices are silver lightning, night armor, super black, navy blue and avalanche. Tidy, no-nonsense headlamps. The lower corners of the front fascia are rugged and massive, although not conspicuously so because they're flat black. The grille is sort of a black egg-crate hole with a floating chrome planet nissan logo in the center, surrounded by an inverted isosceles trapezoid (finished in a flat silver plastic nissan calls sandblast aluminum) with wings that look like handles on a loving cup trophy. At least the dark centers and six machine-finished spokes of the off-road's wheels add some interest. Maybe it's just as well, because snazzy wheels might not go with the mud flaps.  the xterra's distinction comes as much from its roof rack as any vehicle on the road. Nissan calls its sloping front surface an air dam, and that's where the off road model houses its 50,000-candlepower roof lights. All but x have a 'gear basket' right behind the air dam that's meant to hold wetsuits and ski boots and muddy mountain-biking clothes; it's covered by a lid held down with a sloppy plastic latch.  the back half of the xterra is the part that people mostly notice. The brick has big windows. That's where the first aid kit goes. That kind of thing is what the xterra has been all about, successfully, ever since it was introduced. And other things, such as the side steps that make it easy to climb up on the bumper and reach the roof rack. interior2009 brought some small changes to the interior of the xterra: a new center instrument panel cluster with new hvac switches, new fabric upholstery for the x and s models, and unique rugged fabric with red stitching for the off-road. The reclined seats might better fit six-footers.  the center console is deep, with coin holders and two cupholders and the emergency brake handle. Nice tray forward of the shift lever, glovebox of decent size, steering-wheel controls on most models. Good visibility out the rear liftgate window and big side rear windows.  the rear seat, split 60/40, folds flat with a few steps. Some suv seats fold easier, some with more difficulty. Good grab handles over the rear doors, one map pocket on the driver's seatback, two 20-ounce bottle holders. Legroom in the rear seat is a bit lacking, at a mere 34. 4 inches, although a person can fit their knees in there, even behind the driver with his or her seat slid back.  the cargo area is where the xterra comes into its own. There's a nice deep hidden compartment under the floor, and no less than 10 utility hooks on the floor, sides and ceiling. Space and nets to carry jugs. We were intrigued by the adjustable track system in the cargo floor, similar in design to the utili-track system offered on the nissan titan and frontier pickups. Like the easy clean surface, it's standard on all but the base-level x. driving impressionthe nissan xterra is built on a truck chassis. Its body is attached to a boxed-in steel ladder frame and uses a rugged suspension, double-wishbone front and solid axle with leaf springs in rear. Also, with short overhangs front and rear, things don't easily drag in the gulleys. Power Windows✔ Power Mirrors✔ Cruise Control✔ Air Conditioning✔ Bluetooth✔ Leather Seats✔ Alloy Wheels

While fuel prices and environmental concerns have tempered the full-size SUV market, there remains a need for seven-or-eight seat vehicles with room for some cargo that have the ability to tow sizable trailers, reach remote destinations, or both, and that's what the Armada is for. With familiar bodywork and a proven engine and chassis it might come across as merely a minor restyle, but with an essentially new interior and a lot of fine-tuning behind the scenes, it's a major advancement Bucket Seats✔ Power Seats✔ Climate Control✔ Air Conditioning✔ Navigation System✔ Sunroof/Moonroof✔ DVD Entertainment System
